Welcome · Four things before Keel touches your books
Meet your bookkeeper.
Keel acts on the routine, asks on everything that matters, and writes every move down. Four short steps explain the deal.
The whole tour · four steps · about two minutes
01The deal
The routine runs itself. The judgment calls wait for you.
Keel does the repetitive, low-risk work on its own: filing everyday transactions, paying bills that match a well-established pattern, sending a first nudge on an overdue invoice. Anything higher-stakes or genuinely ambiguous stops and waits for your decision. You are never asked to trust a move you cannot see.
Example — this morning
Keel paid the Cascade Utilities bill, −$187.20 — the 8th on record, right on pattern, under the auto-pay ceiling — without asking. A first invoice from Nordic Roasting Equipment, a brand-new vendor, for −$12,500.00 is waiting in your approval queue instead.
02The safety rails
Two things Keel will never do alone.
Two categories are locked to Always Ask — permanently, at any amount. They are not settings you have to remember to tighten; they cannot be loosened. These rails are what make the rest safe to automate: because the highest-stakes calls always come to you, the routine ones can run on their own.
First payments to new vendorsAlways Ask
The first time money moves to any vendor Keel has not paid before, it waits for you — regardless of the amount.
Disputes & anomaliesAlways Ask
Disputed invoices, possible duplicates, and charges that break a vendor's pattern always stop for your call.
03Your starting rules
Three dials, set to sensible defaults.
Keel opens your books with three working rules. They are deliberately conservative — the point is to earn room, not assume it.
Categorization
Keel files a transaction on its own at 90% confidence or better; below that, it asks you to choose. Adjustable from 50% to 99%. Below a hard floor of 40%, a transaction is marked uncategorized and escalated.
Bill auto-pay
Recurring bills up to $500 apiece pay automatically once a vendor's pattern is established. The ceiling can be raised as far as $2,000 — never higher.
Cash-flow floor
If projected cash in the weeks ahead dips below $10,000, Keel raises a flag. A flag only — it never blocks a payment or takes an action on its own.
All three are adjustable any time on the Autonomy page.
04Trust is earned on paper
Every move, written down.
Every action Keel takes lands in the Activity log the moment it happens, with its reasoning attached. The log is append-only: when something needs fixing, the correction goes in as a new entry that points back at the original, which stays exactly as it was — never a silent edit. Expect a short morning ledger each day: what was done, what was asked, and why.
From your ledger — Sat Aug 116:40 · Correction: Golden Hour Prints −$96.00 refiled from Marketing to Office & Admin by you. Supersedes entry No. 0864 of Jul 28 — the original stands, untouched.
